Paint & Safety

The One Question Every Parent Asks Me About Paint

July 30, 2026 · 3 min read

"Is this safe for sensitive skin?" Here's what I actually use, why I use it, and what I tell parents at every single event.

It's the most common question I get, and it should be. I use professional, water-based, hypoallergenic, FDA-compliant cosmetic paint made specifically for face and body art - not craft paint, not anything from a costume shop bin. It washes off easily with soap and water, no scrubbing required.

Even with hypoallergenic paint, I still ask about allergies and sensitive skin before I start on any kid. If a parent mentions eczema, a known allergy, or just wants to be cautious, I'll do a small patch test first or steer toward a lighter, single-color design instead of a full-face one.

The short version: good paint, a quick conversation, and a little common sense go a long way.
